Kayak is one of my go to flight booking sites. It pulls up cheap flights from all the top airlines, and I love that you can put in flexible dates to choose the best deal!
I love scrolling through the Skiplagged app because they highlight cheap flight deals to popular destinations. Great way to get inspired and book a spontaneous adventure.
I usually look at Airbnbs before I even look at hotels when I’m planning a trip. There are so many unique properties and you can find places to stay in any price range. Some of my favorite experiences have been staying with local hosts and becoming friends with them! You can find many off grid and eco friendly properties on Airbnb as well.
Booking.com has thousands of hotels around the world on their site, and they’re making an effort to list eco properties and encourage hospitality companies to work on their sustainable practices. You can easily input your travel preferences and find exactly what you’re looking for. The checkout process is easy and reliable.
If you love camping, glamping, or treehouses, Hipcamp is like the Airbnb of campsites! They have tons of incredible properties to choose from with amazing amenities and are always expanding into new regions.
To search for rental cars I often use Kayak. They have a really easy search tool and tons of reasonably priced cars to choose from all over the world.
If I’m traveling without a rental car, my go to app for getting around is Lyft (if it’s available in the city I’m visiting.) It’s super easy to call for a car if there aren’t any taxis nearby. Lyft has invested in a carbon offset program, they’re encouraging users to book shared rides, and they even launched a ‘Green Mode’ which lets you ride in electric or hybrid vehicles.
My favorite car rental company is Hertz. They have excellent customer service, high quality cars (trust me, it’s a nightmare renting a cheap car and having it break down in the midddle of nowhere!) and a really easy pick up and return system. Hertz has a Green Traveler collection of vehicles available in certain areas, which are alternative fuel cars with lower emissions.
Booking.com is another great search tool for booking rental cars. If I’m using the site to book a hotel I can often get a package deal including a car.

TOUR COMPANIES, TICKETS AND EXPERIENCES
A few years ago, Airbnb launched Experiences, and I’m a huge fan. Any time I’m planning a trip I’ll look to see what experiences are available. Airbnb Experiences are hosted by locals, and can be anything from a walking tour to a cooking class to meeting up for a cocktail at a favorite local hangout. They’re a great way to meet people and see a place from a local point of view.
Any time I’m planning a trip I always check to see if any of my favorite bands will be playing, and for local cultural and sporting events. StubHub has tickets to all the best concerts, games, theatrical performances, and more.
TripAdvisor has tons of information about favorite tourist sites, museum tickets, special events, and other types of activities you might want to do when visiting a new place. You can read helpful reviews and book activities right from the site.
