My Travel Photography Gear!

People often ask me about what camera equipment I use for travel, filmmaking, fashion, and blogging. Photography and film have been two of my greatest passions since I was a kid, and I always encourage others to get into photography as well, as it’s a creative, adventurous activity that you can do your entire life.

While stepping into the photography world offers you the journey of a lifetime, it also requires you to make an investment. Smart phone cameras have come a long way, but if you want truly stunning images you will want to purchase a real camera.

When choosing gear for travel photography I look for equipment that is lightweight, portable, and somewhat rugged. But most of all, I look for the equipment that can get me the best image quality. Having the right gear can make your travel experience more enjoyable, and can also help you sharpen your skills!

The range of digital photography gear options on the market today is staggering. Being a professional photographer myself, I have spent a fair bit of money on equipment in the past that I didn’t even need or ultimately didn’t love. Therefore, learn from my experiences and bookmark this list today for reference before you go on the trip of your dreams!

Here’s the complete list of my cameras, lenses, and gear that I bring on my travels!
Camera Body
canon eos r body

Canon EOS R Mirrorless Camera Body

This camera is perfect for both beginner and professional videographers and photographers! This is my main camera body that I travel with.

This camera is the first in Canon’s EOS R system, and I love it! Mirrorless cameras are becoming more popular for travelers as they improve in quality, because they are lighter weight, quieter, and less likely to break than a full DSLR camera. You can take beautiful shots in automatic mode, or use manual settings if you’re going for a specific look.

I also love that I can shoot gorgeous 4K video with this camera.

The Canon EOS R has full compatibility with all EF / EF-S lenses. The weight, ergonomics and size of this item add to its portability, and I love that I can use my phone as a remote and even see the images on my phone screen as I’m taking them!
