Less is more~
What an inspiring SFFW!! So many amazing sustainable and slow fashion designers and events. I feel very fortunate to be living in the hub of fashion’s green revolution.
I’ve always been obsessed with textiles and materials, and I just love seeing all the gorgeous new eco fabrics being presented on the runway. One of my favorite textiles is tencel, which is actually made from sustainably sourced wood. Tencel is soft, breathable, and biodegradable. Local San Francisco brand Cuyana uses tencel in many of their pieces. My favorite is the Trench Wrap Dress – such a timeless and versatile look!
I love to add a touch of whimsy to my outfits, so I paired the dress with some of my favorite shoes from John Fluevog. Fluevog shoes are wonderfully unique, they’re designed to be extremely comfortable and last for many years.
One of my key takeaways from eco fashion week has been the emphasis on slow fashion and asking why before you buy. Although choosing sustainably made clothing is very important, it’s just as important to buy pieces that will last a long time and you’ll actually use and love for more than a month or two. Decluttering expert Marie Kondo talks about valuing and reconnecting with your clothing in her book. As she says,
“Cherish the things you love. Cherish yourself.”
As always, thanks for following along. Can’t wait to hear what you think!
